Got to the office rather early today. Opened the doors and switched on the aircond. I believed I arrived around 8.45am.
Traffic was as usual, nothing much to talk about--there are lesser parking today eventhough I got to work much earlier, weird.
Was listening to the JJ and Rudy trying to add words to whatever song they are playing by "tweaking, increasing bass/treble and slowing it down" and you would hear some hidden agenda or meaning (isi² tersirat). Weirdies but still definitely entertaining. This is the fourth day I am wearing a red top to work. Never have I in my life wore so much red.
Last day of Cina New 年, it is called "chap goh mei" and it is the valentine's day for chinese. Singles would toss mandarin oranges into rivers with their love message in hopes to get a good match this year. Generations change, rivers are not very accessible everywhere and so there are also people who toss mandarin oranges into lakes and ponds too--I admire the adaptability of humans these days.
I am looking forward to having dinner with my family tonight along with the special guest (:
Last day of Cina New 年, must have family dinner and also to enjoy "yee sang"* for the last time during this Cina New 年.
*"Yee Sang" is aspecial Malaysian Specialty for Cina New 年; "Yee Sang" / "Yu Shang" / "Yu Shen", whichever one it is--they are just different pronounciation. Eating yee sang duing Cina New 年, is actually a reinvented "tradition" of the Chinese in Malaysia and Singapore--a dish of raw fish slices;recently they have salmon and jellyfish too(my favourite) mixed with crunchies and other vegetables or fruits that give that crunchy sweet and soury taste when added with the various kind of sauce. This dish is not part of the Cina New 年 cuisine among the Chinese of Mainland China, Taiwan or even Hong Kong. The fun of eating yee sang is pratically from the fact that everyone;whether young or old, man or woman at the table participate in the boisterous mixing of the ingredients simultaneously with a chopstick--it is also believed that the higher you mix the ingredients, the better it is for your year. Feeling of family togetherness, family bonding, affirmation of ties and also social camaderie is thus created. One of those few times where you actually play with your food with your entire family without getting reprimanded for by your seniors (:
